Steven Wood
Steve is a Senior Manager specializing in Information Technologies Project Management and Program Management. Steve started his career in 1975 with Control Data as a computer operator while going to school pursuing his degree in Business Management and Computer Science. He moved up through the programming ranks and in 1982 took his first management position with Bell South part of Bell Telecommunications and associated with Northwestern Bell. He began his consulting career 10 years ago and has managed numerous projects from both the business and IT perspective ranging from small to the very large and complex in his almost 40 year career. He is also trained in BPM modeling.
Background:
Steve grew up in Graysville Alabama a small town outside of Birmingham. He graduated from West Birmingham Christian High School. He holds degrees from Faulkner University and The University of Alabama.
Steve’s role as Manager of OACC for Bell South afforded him the opportunity in 1981 to do a tour of duty in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul where he met and married his wife and after a brief stint back in Alabama, moved to Minnesota in 1994. He joined The Willow Group, which later merged with Improving Enterprises and has been with the company 10 years as of August 2014.
When not at work, Steve spends his time pursuing his passion of flying, skiing, traveling and enjoying The Alabama Crimson Tide college football program. Steve is also a FAA licensed pilot holding private, instrument, multi-engine and commercial ratings and has been flying for over 35 years. He is a 20 year member of (AOPA) and is actively involved with that organization in the promotion and preservation of general aviation in the United States. Steve is proud to be a member of Angel Flight a group of pilots across the country that volunteer time and aircraft for the transport of children undergoing cancer treatment at Mayo Clinics and The University of Minnesota.
His accomplishment he is most proud of is his three children Chris, Stephanie and Brandon.
Little known fact: Steve loves to sing and from time to time gets to perform with his very good friends of the musical group The Lettermen. He was a DJ at WHHY Radio while going to college and in 1974 met and conducted an interview with Elvis Presley and still wears the famous TCB logo that Elvis gave him.
