About
Chris Boyd
I am an Agile Project Leader with seven years of experience in
marketing and IT. I am a Certified Scrum Professional, Certified Scrum Product
Owner and Certified Scrum Master, having worked in Scrum environments since early 2013.
I'm passionate about developing high performing teams that rally around a vision and idea to create something that matters. With proven success in executing multimillion dollar projects for both local and national clients, I thrive in environments where Agile philosophies are appreciated and encouraged.
A few of the projects I have facilitated, using Scrum, include:
- NationalGuard.com website maintenance, relaunch and lead processing system overhaul
- National Guard state pages website development, such as: http://state.nationalguard.com/tennessee
- GXonline.com website development and maintenance
- EmployerRoadmap.org for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Hiring Our Heroes veteran initiative
- CMTEmpoweringEducation.com for Country Music Television
- GetBuilt.com platform for managing the construction lending lifecycle
Several of these projects were initiated over the course of my time at the full-service marketing company, iostudio, located in Nashville, TN. I was first introduced to Scrum during that time, when the company brought in a Scrum Coach to implement Scrum organization-wide. I initially served as a ScrumMaster, receiving my CSM training and assisting in the implementation of Scrum across three development teams. While a lot of the implementation process was met with resistance, the success of the NationalGuard.com project served as a showcase for the Scrum process and was used to validate its application in a marketing agency context. Upon completion of the NationalGuard.com project, I moved into a Product Owner role to help facilitate projects for other clients.
In the Product Owner role, I led the organization's largest projects and worked with the team to create buy-in for the Scrum process with the company's senior leadership. The process included hosting seminars for the company as a whole to show how Scrum was contributing to the success of projects both pre and post-release.
However, after assuming the Product Owner role, the lines were blurred between my role and the role of Account Executives, which led to confusion regarding priorities and client requirements. I opted to leave iostudio to focus on product development.
In 2014, I began working as a Product Manager at NC2 Media, where I implemented Scrum practices and tools. Given the success of the implementation and the resulting products, the team is expanded to work on multiple products simultaneously.
The focus of the work at NC2 was on the research and development of innovative software products that billionaire owner, Brad Kelley, directs the team to build. More information about the products will be available once public betas are released.
Most recently, I began working as a Product Manager at Built Technologies in order to facilitate the further development of our construction lending lifecycle platform. In my role, I have worked with the development team and leadership to further optimize the organization's implementation of Scrum and use of the Atlassian suite of tools. As we add new channels, additional development teams are being spun up to address the high demand for our cloud-based solution.
In addition to my full-time Product Manager position, I am providing both paid and pro-bono Scrum consulting with local organizations in Nashville to help them either implement or optimize Scrum in their business context. This includes training in Scrum itself as well as Scrum tools, such as JIRA.
