Learn how to be a successful product owner

This course explores the critical role of the product owner in successful product delivery, and gives you the tools to become a better product owner. It’s for product owners, aspiring product owners, and anyone who works with project teams and has responsibility for results.

You’ll be challenged to put theory into practice through a variety of exercises and simulations, and to think through your own product ideas for yourself. As well as learning a range of techniques you’ll also gain a deeper understanding of Scrum and agile principles – not just the how but the why. It’s a potent foundation for working with Scrum and agile in your own organisation.

As Agile ways of working are increasingly adopted by organisations seeking to innovate faster and deliver better products, the majority are using Scrum as their framework. Scrum is a deceptively simple framework, but it is highly adaptive and has a significant impact on traditional organisational models. So if you’re to work successfully with it as a product owner, your knowledge needs to go deeper.

How the course works

On this course you’ll quickly learn about Scrum’s roles, artefacts and meetings. But you’ll also grasp its fundamental underlying principles and the tools and techniques needed to implement it truly successfully. You’ll explore important user-centred techniques that will help you drive product development using metrics and outcomes – in other words, measuring what difference your product actually makes.

The course learning is supported by hands-on exercises and simulations that put the theory into practice. After some initial learning, you will go on to explore your own digital product ideas, before finally working on a product all the way from start to finish – or ‘vision to value’. This will help you understand the entire journey a product goes on before it reaches its customers.

Even people who have been practising Scrum for more than five years have found value in the course. It provides a great foundation in Scrum, agile and lean principles for product owners.

What you’ll come away with

After successfully completing the course, you will be designated as Certified Scrum Product Owner. This Scrum Alliance certification includes a two-year membership of the Scrum Alliance.

You’ll have learned what a product owner is and how they function within the Scrum framework, and have gained tools and techniques to become a better product owner. You will know how to validate assumptions about a product idea, take the idea forward, understand your customers and manage stakeholders, and work with a product backlog.

The course will be taught by two experienced Certified Scrum Trainers:

Khurram Bhatti CST:

"Khurram is a highly skilled coach, trainer, and facilitator with over 20 years of professional experience. He brings diverse experiences working with startups, SMEs, and enterprises in Sweden and Pakistan across various industries such as telecom, software asset management (SAM), data privacy, financial services, and life sciences, demonstrating his adaptability and expertise in Agile and leading change.

Furthermore, he has established strong partnerships with global organisations and has organised numerous successful Scrum and Agile Coaching events in Pakistan, Sweden, the US and other parts of the world."
