Technical Requirements

To participate fully in this interactive online course, you will need a stable internet connection, a webcam, a microphone, and the ability to use common online collaboration tools like Zoom. We may also utilize online whiteboarding tools (like Miro or Mural). More detailed information will be provided before class starts.

PDUs and SEUs

This focused 4-hour course qualifies for approximately 4 Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMP® certification renewal through the Project Management Institute (PMI), and 4 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) towards renewing your Scrum Alliance certifications (typically Category B or C).

Microcredential Details

Upon successful completion and active participation in this entire 4-hour course, Brian will register your completion with Scrum Alliance. You will then receive instructions via email directly from Scrum Alliance on how to claim your official "AI for Scrum Masters" Microcredential digital badge to display on your profile and share online.

Please note: This microcredential validates specific skills and knowledge in AI application for Scrum Masters. It is distinct from foundational or advanced certifications like CSM® or A-CSM® and does not grant those certifications or automatically renew them (though the SEUs earned can contribute to renewal).

We understand plans can change. In an emergency, we will do everything we can to help you reschedule your class time. We do not offer cancellations though.

Key Topics We'll Explore:

This focused 4-hour microcredential provides practical guidance on leveraging AI ethically and effectively as a Scrum Master. We will cover key areas through discussion, demonstration, and hands-on practice:

  • Understanding AI's Role for SMs: Demystifying relevant AI concepts and identifying high-value opportunities for AI assistance in your daily work.
  • AI for Scrum Events & Facilitation: Practical prompts and techniques using AI to help prepare for, run, and summarize Scrum events like Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, and Retrospectives.
  • AI for Impediments & Coaching Insights: Utilizing AI tools to accelerate research on impediments, brainstorm solutions, analyze team sentiment or data (ethically), and generate potential coaching questions.
  • Ethical Considerations & Limitations: Discussing responsible AI use within teams, recognizing potential biases, respecting data privacy, and knowing the boundaries where human facilitation and coaching are irreplaceable.
  • Integrating AI into Your SM Toolkit: Strategies for selecting appropriate AI tools and incorporating prompting techniques smoothly into your workflow.

Learn through live demonstrations, hands-on prompt practice (bring your favorite AI tool!), and group discussion focused on immediate applicability.

Session Flow: This is a concentrated 4-hour live online session. We will incorporate **one short break** (approximately 10-15 minutes) around the midpoint to help you stay refreshed. An optional Q&A may follow the session based on participant interest.

This microcredential course is specifically designed for Scrum Masters at any stage of their career (CSM®, A-CSM®, CSP-SM®, or practicing without certification) who want to understand and leverage Artificial Intelligence effectively within their role.

It is also highly beneficial for Agile Coaches, Team Leads, Managers, and anyone supporting Scrum teams who is interested in the practical application of AI tools and techniques to enhance team performance and agility.

No specific Scrum Alliance certification is required to attend this course. However, familiarity with the Scrum framework and the accountabilities of the Scrum Master role is recommended to gain the most value from the focused discussions and exercises on applying AI.

Course Expectations & Participation

To maximize your learning in this focused 4-hour microcredential session and earn the Scrum Alliance digital badge, your full attendance and active participation are essential.

We expect all participants to:

  • Arrive on time for the start of the session and after the break.
  • Remain fully present and engaged during all activities and discussions. This includes enabling your webcam throughout the live session as required by Scrum Alliance for virtual training.
  • Participate from a quiet environment conducive to collaborative learning, free from significant distractions.
  • You are expected to behave in a professional manner. Anything that would get you in trouble with your HR department could get you kicked out of this class as well.
  • It is expected that you will always treat your fellow students with respect. If we receive a complaint, we will investigate and if supported, we will take action and remove you from the class.

Microcredential Requirement: Please note that full attendance for the entire 4-hour session and active participation are required to be eligible for the Scrum Alliance "AI for Scrum Masters" Microcredential badge.

We look forward to exploring the potential of AI for Scrum Masters together in this interactive session!
