Title: Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Dr.-Ing. Jan Woerner has been engaged in many IT projects in different branches like the automotive industry, health, energy utilities, retail industry, event management, hotel management, and logistics. After receiving his doctorate in 2005, Dr. Woerner taught and trained students at the University of Karlsruhe in UML and industry-like software development. The studied mechanical engineer finished his dissertation in applied computer science in the fields of software-supported cooperative engineering within plant production. Completing research projects successfully in computer-integrated manufacturing, he recognized for the first time that agile methods applied to software development, on the one hand, allow developers the creative process to be fulfilled and, on the other hand, help to recognize if the requirements are met — „to fail early“. In 2007 he guided the first team to change from traditional waterfall to agile development. Since then, he has been in several agile roles in many SMEs and huge enterprises. In addition to his fundamental experience in software development, software architecture, data analysis, integration, and IT infrastructure, he acquired how to laterally and disciplinary lead teams of up to 24 people. Since 2014, he has become a master's student in leadership, adopting the knowledge in his daily business as an agile IT expert. After successfully applying a merger of Scrum and Kanban that even increased productivity in the lockdown time of 2020 of the development of an integration platform focusing on parcel and container service solutions, Dr. Woerner changed his career to become a professor at Oral Roberts University, Oklahoma, U.S.A. teaching Computer Science and Computer Information Technology undergraduate and master classes.
