Title: CEO

My name is Roman Shtekelman and I am a CSM, CSP  and Scrum practitioner for the last 8 year. I have 15 years experience in IT predominantly in software development and delivery. I come from a technical background studying software engineering in University of London and upon graduation worked as software tester, developer, architect, team lead, scrum master. I worked  for vaious  FTSE 500 organisations like Temenos, Sunguard, Rule Financial, Logica, GAM( former subsidiary of UBS) and later formed a consultancy Shtekelman Associates ltd. My current client is TFL where I work  as a scrum master and a Scrum coach. I strive to ensure that teams are self managed and productive. I observe teams closely during stand ups, demos and retrospectives trying to capture team members’ dynamics. I like to encourage communication  between individuals and promote their self empowerment. I set myself objectives to ensure continues improvement of the scrum process by eliminating waist, making teams productive and ensure wellbeing and happiness of the individuals in the team. I like to keep the sprints in sustainable pace so that people don’t burn out. Happy team for me is the team that delivers every sprint and keeps the commitment without being overworked. I coach other scrum masters and work closely with Agile Delivery managers and technical delivery managers to improve agile processes in multiple teams.

Prior to my engagement with TFL I was contracting with various organisations including BSkyB,TomTom group, Amadeus group, Irish Life ltd, HMH Group, Fidelity Investments, Ericson ltd.

In those organisations I held various roles on scrum teams working either as a developer and scrum master. I started my first scrum role in Rule Financial in 2008 as a software developer. I was quickly introduced to scrum process by our experience scrum master and got acquainted with the process briefly. Initially I was not convinced about the benefits of Agile compared with Waterfall methodology but very quickly turned from simple practitioner to a champion of Agile process in our organisation and ran a scrum team of 7 developers. In HMH I held a role of scrum master for two concurrent projects with distributed teams based in USA, India and Ireland, presiding over scrum of scrums with local and distributed teams. In Ericsson I was a scrum master with a small team of in house consultants developing software in 2 weeks iteration under my guidance.

In Tomtom I worked in a team of very experienced agile practitioners who pushed Scrum to the limits continuously improving team velocity while delivering quality software.

Irish Life is a very traditional organisation that decided to give a go for Agile and absolutely loved this methodology. Piloting one project which was a success they turned to staunch adopters of Scrum.

I am very passionate about Scrum process and my goal is to achieve Certified Scrum Trainer accreditation so that I can further promote Scrum and teach others.
