I've been working with agile since 2008. I've worked as a Scrum Master and Project Manager for several of those years. In many of these years, I was responsible for either running agile on my team or for training others in the various ways of being agile.

I'm mostly self-trained in agile. I started using the agile methods directly in 2008 after reading websites and books about the process. I eventually earned my CSM in 2013 and 2015 and my CSPO in 2015. CSPO was the most enlightening class for me. It really drove home the point that the backlog is the most important aspect of any agile team. Without a good prioritized backlog, the team will not know what to work on next. Knowing what to do next prevents idle time for the team.

I like the methods so much that I use them at home. While my wife hasn't liked having a board on the wall, I now use an electronic tool for managing the tasks around the house and in other areas of my life. Even the kids liked the process of knowing what they needed to get done on a regular basis. Every Sunday night we even had a demo/review and retrospective of how the previous week had gone and what to expect the coming week. It was a great use of the principles with a willing audience!
