About
John Hinson started out in the Accounting Software Industry – 25 years ago. His experience runs the gamut of management, coding in many languages and on many platforms, Developer, and Solution Enterprise Architect. John has worked in many different Agile environments over the years. The first one featured everyone in the company running nightly scripted testing on daily builds. That was in 1997, long before Scrum or the Agile Manifesto came into being. These days, John is a Certified Scrum Master ® and deeply experienced Agile mentor who has worked with a wide variety of companies in an equally wide variety of industries including telecommunications, government (Local, State and Federal), medical health, insurance, financial, media, utilities, and smart-grid energy. John’s focus is on Scrum Alliance certified training, which is a great fit since teaching is deeply rooted in his DNA. You see, while engaged in all that coding and architecting, John also pursued (and completed!) his PhD in Engineer Management and taught at CSU. Along the way he spent 16 years working at Center for Disease Control being an evangelist for EPLC (Enterprise Performance Life Cycle). The serious focus on using any of the methodologies in conjunction with EPLC provides an in-depth exercise in project management and agile thinking in the Government structure. Seeing the whole, or at least seeking to do so, has become second nature. Understanding complex interactions within Teams and their environment provide John a tremendous edge in building Agile Scrum Teams in a traditional waterfall environment. His current area of interest is the team building of Agile Teams in within complex adaptive systems of the Government -- and how to enable true self-organization to achieve innovative solutions to the problems inherent in new product and service development. John recently has concluded that he will bring his passion for teams and teamwork to bear in a concise, content-rich volume, The Agile Team EPLC Handbook. Applying EPLC Agile values and principles through Scrum practices provides teams and organizations with a roadmap for success in today's challenging government environment. The EPLC Agile Team Handbook is a practical, hands-on guide to building great teams and great government organizations.
