About
Jennifer Gage, PhD - Currently an Application Developer at ELM Resources, previously a Lead Programmer/Analyst at Geographic Solutions with 6 years of experience leading a team of 5-8 developers including myself. After completing my PhD in AI Robotics from the University of South Florida in 2009 I was hired at Geographic Solutions an entry-level developer and quickly moved up. I was made a Lead in March of 2012. I left Geographic Solutions in October 2018 to persue a new role at ELM Resources.
My team at Geographic Solutions was the first in the company to adopt Scrum practices. Adopting Agile methods and Scrum practices with an emphasis on producing high quality maintainable code enabled the team to:
- Tackle and finally subdue the mountain of technical debt we inherited from our predecessors
- Gain the confidence and respect of management and other teams within the organization
- Learn self-management and self-direction
For me personally, I learned to be a servant leader by supporting the team while enabling them to take the reins.
At ELM I am part of a team that has been practicing Scrum for many years. I am looking forward to helping them refine their practices while learning more about Agile development from my highly skilled peers.
