JonPaul Ashton My current position as a ScrumMaster on a team at Land O'Lakes was not the most traditional of journeys. In the year 2000, I began my career working for the government in a completely unrelated field. I started as an electronics technician, moved to a position of Civil Engineering technician in 2004, and continued doing that for multiple parts of the organization until 2012. I received a degree in MIS from Metro State University in December of 2011, and after that, began looking for new opportunities. In August 2012, I was given an opportunity to be a Business Systems Analyst at Land O'Lakes Inc. After working on traditional waterfall projects for a year, I was given an opportunity to be on the very first agile team at the company, and jumped at the chance. I started working as a team member, bringing my BSA skill set to the team. In November that year, I went to get my CSM certification, and passed that certification exam with flying colors. I continued working in the role of team member on 2 different teams until the beginning of this year, when I was given the role of ScrumMaster, which remains my current role. I have learned much about Scrum, and how Scrum can be applied on web development projects and have seen the growth from a single project experiment to 2 dedicated Scrum teams, and one more dedicated team coming next year. I continue to learn on a daily basis, and truly enjoy being a servant leader to my team!
