OM PRAKASH BANG, currently working with Microsoft India as a Program Manager having 24+ Years of IT and NON-IT experience. I believe Companies using Agile Project Management principles to run projects allows organizations with an agile mindset to respond quickly and effectively to the complexity and uncertainty that characterize today's business needs. I Joined Microsoft as a developer in Dec 2006 and after one year moved to Program Management. First three years, program delivery using traditional waterfall methodology. Later started implementing sprint in development phase, however other things remain unchanged. In 2009 undergone 4 days PMP training program, It helped in improving delivery using water fall methodology, however issues in addressing changing requirement, late inspection, drilling down requirement, trying to complete functional, technical design upfront, burnout during last phase etc. still remain same. Jan 2012 kicked off discussion on scrum implementation with project stakeholders. After one month did a pilot sprint and April 2012 officially kicked off  scrum delivery model for a program. Since then delivering releases using Agile project management. There are challenges, but we could deliver features in smaller releases, everyone working as a team. Implemented scrum in web, BI, reporting and content management application. Coaching other team on scrum implementation, as and when required.

Prior to Microsoft, one year I was with Cybage Software Pvt. Ltd. as a system analyst. During this period I was working with Microsoft as a vendor developer. As a developer working on SQL Server, BI technologies. Setting of coding standard, code review, build process and improving engineering excellence.

I graduated my engineering in Electronics (B.E) in 1988 and started my career in very small company manufacturing electronic devices. I was working with the director, helping him in research, development and designing new electronics instruments used in detection, safety. After one year, I started heading production division, responsible for production planning, inventory control, daily production, third party inspection, dispatch and so on. I was still assisting director in his development work. During this time, I have developed my first program in dBase to decode Z80 assembly level program as per instruction set. Other than dBase programming in those days using 286/380 systems for PCB Designing (OrCAD), inventory management and for crating reports time to time. I was helping programmer in root cause analysis of issues and fixing. All DOS based programs in clipper and hosted in diskless Novell NetWare arc net environment. After Five years, moved to marketing division, responsible for institutional sales and marketing of electronic product, participating in government tenders, setting up distributor / dealer's network, formulating policies, demonstration of instruments, participation in trade fair. This was the time, when I travelled INDIA across length and breadth.

After four years, joined KABSONS Group as a Dy. Manager (EDP), responsible for setting up and maintaining IT infrastructure. Setting up Ethernet LAN, moving away from ArcNet, connectivity between office and factory network. Remotely working on factory server from office. Planning infrastructure upgrade time to time. Developed Payroll, purchase and inventory module in FoxPro. Worked on Novell Netware, Windows, Oracle and tons of software. Worked with third party in developing ERP package for Group of companies. My role was translating business / functional requirement to technical language, explaining Vendor Company what is required in specific module and how modules are integrated with other modules. ERP package was in VB and Oracle backend. Crystal Report used for reporting. Explored Microsoft BI technologies for analysis and reporting. Worked with web designers on setting up company website.
