About
Brad Green - I'm an IT Consultant with over 18 years of experience that included systems analysis, production support analyst, Subject Matter Expert, team leader, trainer, project and program manager, management consultant, ScrumMaster, and Agile Consultant. My experience includes traditional waterfall SDLC projects across a number of government agencies, as well as Lean and Agile teams delivering products for higher education, scientific, and financial services clients. Whether it's a production support team buried in tickets or a new Kanban team learning how to iteratively deliver small pieces of work, I have a proven track record of helping teams efficiently organize and deliver for their customers. As an individual contributor, I have supported the full procurement life cycle (from market research through implementation) for both government and commercial clients and authored executive level briefings for C-level executives and Congress.
I was first introduced to Agile in 2006 when I worked as a Client Delivery Manager for a small company in North Carolina named (at the time) Sciquest. We used agile concepts in all our proprietary, Cloud-based Procurement system implementations for clients around the world. From the use of User Stories to record and implement clients’ needs to Kaizen sessions dedicated to continuously improving processes throughout the company, I was ‘hooked’ on this new approach to client delivery.
Upon returning to Northern Virginia, I was forced to leave my newfound love for all things Agile as I worked as a Project and Program manager for a large, highly regulated, traditional financial services company. Following that series of projects, I shifted back to Federal Government, consulting for a financial government agency with numerous responsibilities. As part of my role, I was able to return to Agile by working with a web site redesign team to implement Agile concepts to help deliver a higher quality product to their business stakeholders on a more frequent basis. While the federal environment’s rigid SDLC prohibited out fully adopting a Scrum framework, we greatly improved delivery through the principles we were able to adopt.
Following my engagement with the Federal Government, I returned to the commercial financial services industry where I was able to resume working with Agile full time. I started off on an agile project as a project manager, but quickly shifted into the ScrumMaster role. Upon my departure from that team, I served as an Agile Consultant, developing and implementing the strategy to transform a maintenance portfolio of applications, teams, and projects from their traditional waterfall delivery method to use various Agile frameworks. During this time I served in a number of roles, including Consultant, ScrumMaster, Mentor, and advisor over the course of the 2+ years I supported the portfolio.
I am active in my company, InnoVireo LLC, serving as both the Operations lead as well as the ScrumMaster for our internal development team.
On a personal level, I enjoy spending time with my two kids and our dog and golfing whenever those three afford me the opportunity. I’ve also setup an agile board at home to track our weekly activities.
