About the Course

Dates: 30th June - 1st July in Sydney CBD

The Product Owner role is critical to maximising Return on Investment from agile projects and is one of the most challenging and rewarding agile roles. Many Product Owners come from business areas of the organisation and have limited familiarity with elements of software development, project management and agile methods that are critical to success in the Product Owner role. For these reasons, it is vitally important that Product Owners gain a solid understanding of their role and responsibilities as well as the knowledge, skills and tools to work effectively with Scrum teams.

Audience

This course is most suitable for Product Owners, Business Owners, Producers, business-focused Project Managers and staff assisting with requirements and their priority (e.g. Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts), solution architecture (e.g. Solution Architects and Tech Leads), planning and coaching (e.g. ScrumMasters and Agile Coaches).

Trainers

This course is taught by two highly experience Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer, Simon Bennett and Rowan Bunning.

Simon Bennett has over 20 years real-world experience in software and hardware development, and Chair of the Product Owner Panel at the Munich Scrum Gathering. From 2008 through 2010 Simon was also the Product Owner for the Scrum for Team System TFS process template.

Simon has considerable experience in organisational agile adoption, large scale Scrum and using Scrum in an offshore environment, as well as successfully blending Scrum with other methods including UCD. Over the last 12 years have been focused on using Agile frameworks and methods including Scrum, XP, Crystal & Kanban. His wealth of experience and passion for Product Ownership brings a unique depth and flavour to the course, as students will learn from real world case studies rather than only theory and simulations.

Rowan Bunning is a pioneer in Australia of the Scrum agile project management approach. With a background in web and object-oriented software design, Rowan was first introduced to agile as "the way good Smalltalkers develop software". Rowan became Australia's first Certified Scrum Practitioner and Certified Scrum Trainer. He has built extensive experience training, coaching and leading Agile adoptions across Australia, New Zealand, the U.K, and Ireland and has worked as an Agile Coach and ScrumMaster at one of Europe's leading agile consultancies. Rowan is a PRINCE2® Practitioner, is Cognitive Edge accredited and is a trained Innovation Games® facilitator.
