About the Course

The Product Owner role is critical to maximising Return on Investment from Scrum projects and is perhaps the most challenging role to fulfill. Many Product Owners come from business areas of the organisation and have limited familiarity with software development and agile methods. For these reasons, it is vitally important that Product Owners gain a solid understanding of their role and responsibilities as well as the knowledge, skills and tools to work effectively with Scrum teams.

Compared with the more frequently offered Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) course, the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) course is primarily concerned with agile management of scope, schedule, resources, quality and risk to maximise return on investment as is the role of the Product Owner. The practice level of the Scrum Framework is covered in depth as well as User Stories as a tool for requirements elicitation and communication. This course is most suitable for Product Owners and staff who support Product Owners with requirements, planning or coaching.

About the Trainer

This Certified ScrumMaster course was taught by Rowan Bunning. Rowan is a Certified Scrum Trainer® and a pioneer of Scrum in Australasia. With a background in application and web site development, product development and eXtreme Programming, Rowan became Australia's first Certified ScrumMaster and first Certified Scrum Practitioner®. He has built extensive experience leading, coaching, and training organisations in Scrum across Australasia and Europe, including with one of the U.K.’s leading Scrum consultancies.

As a Certified Scrum Trainer he has a fantastic track record for running comprehensive and high value Scrum courses. His offerings include the two day Certified ScrumMaster and Certified Scrum Product Owner courses with associated accreditations with the Scrum Alliance. He also offers one day courses on Effective User Stories and Agile Estimating and Planning as licensed from Mike Cohn of Mountain Goat Software - author of the most popular books on these topics. Enjoyed the interactivity and learning methods. I wanted to understand how the method could better suits my situation.

I enjoyed the way Rowan made the training materials accessible and engaging with a variety of learning methods. I thought the scrum management method was taught very well. I wanted the chance for practical solutions for my particular unique circumstances (team and product) that didn't seem to fit in with many of the examples.

This the second course I've attended run by Rowan. He's a great teacher, taking the time to explain concepts, give real-world examples. A good balance of theory and practice makes the learning fun and more deeply engaging.

Best takeaways are the interactive sessions and the tricks to prioritize tasks and requests! Lots of real world examples are exciting too
