Pieter den Heten has spent the last 18 years designing digital products for government, corporates and startups across Europe and Asia Pacific. Companies he worked with include the NRMA, Optus, Telstra, IAG, General Assembly, DriveMyCar, Think Education, Sony Music, Destination NSW and Toyota.
Pieter’s experience spans most UX disciplines: he has worked as a designer, front-end developer, project manager, business analyst, marketing communications advisor and UX lead and architect. His hybrid background gives him a unique perspective of the delivery process. He intuitively understands the challenges of those creating as well as those managing digital projects.
Today, he shares his extensive experience and knowledge as a UX consultant, trainer and coach. He runs workshops, coaching and events through http://userexperience.academy, to increase awareness and adoption of UX best practices amongst business leaders.
Pieter is completing a Master of Business Administration at Deakin University to expand his knowledge of business processes and their interaction with design decisions.
Since he started his career in 1999, Pieter has been a passionate advocate of usability and accessibility. In 2001, he co-founded Cascadis, a professional association championing web standards and accessibility guidelines within the Dutch government. Today Pieter regularly hosts UX events from his office in Pyrmont, providing a platform for practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge and ideas.
