Your First North American Gathering Team Update

Welcome to the first update from your North American Gathering Team (NAGT). We’re here to keep you informed and involved about the upcoming Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis 2018. Help us keep these monthly updates relevant! Send your feedback and suggestions to [email protected].

Who/What/Why is NAGT?

As you may have noticed, there have been some changes this year with the North American Gatherings. The first of which was to bring together the NAGT, combining community and Scrum Alliance® members. Keep in mind: This is not a one-and-done team. We’ll have members who move out and new ones who move in every year. This will provide both continuity and fresh perspective from one Gathering to the next.

There’s a lot of work that goes into an event of this size. In fact, we’re expecting Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis 2018 to be the largest to date! We had our first face-to-face meeting and toured the Minneapolis Convention Center on June 3, 2017. We’ve since created themes and are now in the process of evaluating the many abstract submissions received.

What’s new: Cvent

Those of you who’ve submitted abstracts in the past know that we have used the Indico system. In the spirit of living our values, and in response to your feedback about Indico, we are now experimenting with a new tool, Cvent. As expected, there are often hiccups when you try something new. The good news is that we think we’ve worked out the kinks for the most part. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions about this new event organization tool.

Got goals? We do!

Our goal is to make Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis 2018 an awesome learning experience for all – from those just learning Agile/Scrum practices to those who train and inspire us. After the Gathering, we want to step back and say that we’ve done our best to give the opportunity to collaborate and learn from one another in a fun environment. We want to build a sense of community, nurture old friendships, and create new ones.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates from your NAGT. Again, we want you to help us keep these monthly updates relevant, so send your feedback and suggestions to [email protected].

See you in Minneapolis!
