Planning is Well Underway

We expect Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis 2018 to be the largest Scrum Gathering to date! Of course, these Gatherings don’t just happen in a vacuum; much effort goes into organizing and curating an event of this size.

The event is six months away and your North American Gathering Team has been hard at work reviewing submissions. With those reviews now complete, we’d like to give an idea of the magnitude of the task:

  • We received approximately 300 abstracts for review.
  • Each abstract was reviewed by at least four individuals.
  • That’s over 1200 submissions our hard-working team has reviewed.

How we did it

With so many submissions to be reviewed in such a short amount of time, we needed something to help us do twice the work in half the time. Our secret? Scrum, of course!

  • Each theme has a Product Owner and, in some cases, co-Product Owners.
  • Every theme has one to three ScrumMasters working with a team to complete the reviews.
  • More than 80 reviewers have volunteered their time to the community to help complete the reviews.

A very heartfelt thank-you goes out to our reviewers and ScrumMasters for their contributions and service to our community. Their time, effort and dedication makes our Gatherings possible, and we are most grateful.

What‘s New: Play in the Scrum Sandbox

As you know, Agile values human interaction over rigid processes. That’s why we want to share the latest and coolest new tools to facilitate productive and fun interaction. Check out our first-ever Scrum Sandbox at Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis 2018.

What’s the Scrum Sandbox? This is a practical toolkit to motivate and engage your Scrum Team. You’ll learn practices, tools, interactive activities and games that build team connections in new ways – and in almost any organization. Our presenters will create an environment for ScrumMasters, team members, and Product Owners to try new tricks, collaboration games, and communication techniques. So jump in and have fun!

Minneapolis Cool: Twin Cities. Endless Possibilities.
Special thanks to Bria Johnson, CSM, for her insider’s guide to Minneapolis!

Take it from us: Minneapolis is a thriving and innovative city. Not only is it the home of the Vikings (American football), Twins (baseball), and the birthplace of Prince’s signature sound, it's a hub for major companies such as Target, Ameriprise Financial, UnitedHealth Group, 3M, and US Bank. From sports and music to great food and craft beer, Minneapolis has tons of attractions and cool neighborhoods to explore.

We look forward to seeing you soon in the Twin Cities!
