Denver, CO,—Scrum Alliance, the largest, most established and influential professional membership organization and certifying body in the Agile community, was excited to sponsor the Coaches Clinic at the Agile Alliance Conference held in Orlando, Florida.  A record 225 attendees participated in the clinic.

“We were so proud to offer free coaching to the conference attendees and owe a big thank you to the coaches and trainers who volunteered their time to this clinic,” said Scrum Alliance Managing Director Carol McEwan.  “This year more than 20 coaches from around the world, and as far away as India were there to help out.  It’s really great to see.”

At the Clinic, Coaches spend one-on-one time with conference attendees who have a question or are looking for help finding a solution to an issue they may have.

Coaches Clinic Organizer Roger Brown said, “The Scrum Alliance Coaches Clinic is a chance for a person to talk directly to an experienced Agile Coach about their particular challenges. Coaching is helping people find their own best solutions. Sometimes we give a direct response about Agile practices, tools or strategies. More often we draw from a person’s knowledge of their own situation to find a solution best suited to their challenge.”

Hot topics and questions this year included:
-How do you handle product trouble-shooting at the same time as product development?
-How do you introduce quality assurance to the Agile process?
-What ideas and different ways can you provide to help empower a team of Scrum Masters?
-What do you do to overcome conflict with the Product Owner versus the team and how can they encourage each other?
-How does someone become a coach?

“Each year attendees get to see they are not alone.  The questions they have and the issues they face at work are some of the same their peers face.  This is a great way for them to realize they can ask for support and get it,” said McEwan.  “Sponsoring this clinic each year is just one way Scrum Alliance is able to give back to the community.  It has a real impact on attendees.”
