What is this online CSM course?

The Scrum Alliance® Certified Scrum Master® (CSM) learning is a highly interactive, in-depth approach to covering the values and principles of Agile, and the theory, practices and rules of Scrum. Rickard Jones has over 20 years of professional services experience in roles such as Agile coach, trainer and program lead.

With an Agile mindset, values, principles, and practices, he has collaborated with many organisations, teams, and individuals to support them on their complex journey in becoming Agile.

He goes where the value need is, having previously been an XP developer, programme manager, change manager, development manager, scrum master and transformation lead. Despite an unhealthy obsession with learning, he believes nothing beats a coaching journey of in-the-field practical experience.

Not only is Rickard one of the authors of the AgileHR Manifesto, but he is also an international conference speaker, Enterprise Agile Coach, Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified Team Coach, Program Lead, Online Remote Facilitator, LeSS Trainer and ICAgile Trainer.

Are there any prerequisites for this CSM course?

None for the CSM course as it is not tech-centric, everyone is welcome.

How should I prepare for this CSM course?

Come in with an open mind to be challenged and the willingness to work with your fellow learners.

For the online version will I need to install any software?

Attendance and active participation across the course days will result in the registration for the Certified ScrumMaster® exam.

You will be required to install the latest ZOOM desktop/laptop software (avoid the web or mobile versions) and be able to access the Internet.

It is recommended you have a great internet connection via fast WIFI or hard-wired Ethernet cable. If possible, a 2nd monitor is a helpful option.

As a Scrum Alliance requirement you will be required to have your video picture ON during the course.

Don't skimp on your own learning experience!

To avoid Zoom fatigue, we shall be having 10 min breaks roughly every hour and a break for Lunch.

What about exams and certifications?

Attendance and active participation across the course days will result in the registration for the Certified ScrumMaster® exam.

The exam consists of a 50-question CSM test and answers 37 out of the 50 questions correctly within the 60-minute time limit to pass.

After you pass the CSM test, you will be asked to accept the CSM License Agreement and complete your Scrum Alliance membership profile. Don’t forget to do this!

Then and only then, upon successful completion of the exam and the formality of accepting the license agreement, attendees will hold Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) status. Congratulations!

Highly recommend. Excellent instructor and valuable information.

Excellent sessions by Rickard. Highly engaged online coaching with group activities and well paced. Created a lively professional atmosphere which broadened the usual limits to online interactions and a treasured learning experience. Provided prompt support pre and post registration, gave excellent examples from his vast experience and included interactions of current global industry trends.

Good overall, but the practice lacked real day to day scenarios from how a Scrum team works

Great facilitator with tons of hands on experience.

The training was enjoyable and informative for two days. Rickard has a lot of expertise and practical skills as a trainer. The exercises in the curriculum made the learning easier and playful.

Not having worked in Scrum before at all (and not having a passion for it like the other participants), I still found the course easy and clear to follow. Rickard was knowledgeable, kept a great pace, answered all the questions, and maintained everyone's interest.

Half of the training was rather slow and not direclty scrum related IMO. the rest was more centered toward scrum, but there nothing there the online documentation would not have covered anyway. In a nutshell, if it were not my company paying for it, I'd have self-taught myself and just paid for the exam.
