Tommi Johnstone fell accidentally and headfirst into the world of Scrum and agile in the autumn of 2006 when she was hired to be a Jill-of-all-trades at Danube Technologies, a popular agile training company at the time. With a strong conviction for customer service and community involvement, Tommi was instantly attracted to the human-centric tenets expressed in the Agile Manifesto.
As her new life unfolded, she added the classic Scrum roles of Product Owner, ScrumMaster and team member to her repertoire, along with support, scheduling, sales, coach, confidant and cat herder. As you may have noticed, Tommi likes to dig in and get her hands dirty, a personality trait that eventually led her to 3Back.
At 3Back, Tommi funnels her energy into building business and client success stories. One of her favorite things about working in the agile industry is the people, and working at 3Back allows her to take this passion to the next level by connecting the amazing and passionate people that she knows with teams well suited to their talents. Although her official title is a mouthful, if you ask her what she does, you’ll likely receive her honest response: “Whatever it takes!”
In her personal time, Tommi is an avid cyclist, animal lover, and fierce supporter of her own community. If she’s not on her bike (and sometimes even if she is), she can usually be found fundraising for her favorite causes, the MS Society and the Oregon Humane Society, or volunteering at one of her local homeless shelters.
In addition to holding CSM and CSPO certifications through the Scrum Alliance, Tommi is also a PMI Agile Certified Practitioner.
