James (Kirk) Burton, PMP, CSM
Kirk is responsible for developing and managing programs to enhance the technical capabilities of America’s warfighters and first responders. During a 23 year military career this combat veteran served as a Special Forces leader, Inspector General, and served on the Army Staff. He has significant international experience including living abroad for 7 years, leading diplomatic and assistance efforts in Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He gained valuable experience in DoD appropriations, contracting and technology development while managing classified program for Army Special Operations elements. Key military assignments include: Deputy Operations Officer for the Combined Joint Task Force in Djibouti Africa, where he was responsible for planning operations in support of the Global War on Terror, directing force protection efforts for U.S. forces in the region and coordinating training activities for eight African Nations; As the Deputy Commander for the Joint Combined Special Operations Task Force headquartered in Baghdad Iraq, Kirk Coordinated operations and support for DOD and coalition Special Operations Forces in Iraq. He was also given the responsibility for the activities of liaison elements responsible for coordination with Iraqi political parties recognized by the Coalition Provisional Authority. Since joining Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), Kirk has used his skills to support technology development efforts for America’s special operations forces and first responders. He has worked as a project/program manager for rapid prototyping efforts, unmanned aerial system technologies, training and simulation system development and is currently a Senior Director leading technology innovation efforts as well as Vice President of CTC Tampa Bay, a nonprofit affiliate of CTC that performs technology research and due diligence for several government clients. Kirk holds a BA degree in Accounting and Finance from Kennesaw State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Syracuse University and has a current DoD Top-Secret clearance.
