Biography

Andrew Young is an accomplished senior technology leader with over 20 years of experience in software development, team building, and leadership. A servant leader who excels at recruiting, coaching and mentoring highly effective Agile teams and encourages others to achieve excellence while maintaining compliance with Agile standards.

Major Accomplishments:

Agile Transformation. Trained and coached Agile methods at Livingston International, Vital Insights and Woodbine Entertainment that resulted in an immediate increase of productivity and inter-team communications.

Scaled Agile Implementation. Implemented scaled Agile methods and planning at Livingston International that increased communication and productivity for both onshore and offshore teams. 

Process Improvement. Boosted operational efficiency by 50% by analyzing historical project data to reorganize the customization development teams, resulting in enhanced customer satisfaction.

Marketo Marketing Automation.  Architected and managed the automation of Woodbine’s Marketing campaigns and the delivery of actionable data to Woodbine’s Marketo platform.

Team Building. Successfully grew, retooled and mentored the Arbor Memorial’s development group of four software developers to a group of 12 software developers.  Successfully created a stimulating workplace that resulted in only one turnover in ten years

Strategic Planning. Established a Digital Media Services division that allowed RP Graphics to offer digital marketing services such as email marketing and mobile applications.  Activities included the creation of a business plan, development of software including the use of offshore development staff, training of sales staff and the creation of marketing materials.  This initiative allowed RP Graphics to respond to the decline of the traditional print business and established a new revenue stream.

Software Leadership. Architected and oversaw Canada’s largest .NET Cemetery/Funeral Home ERP system in 2002.  The project involved three external vendors, 25 internal and external software developers, five Business Analysts, and 15 testers with a budget of $4.5M.

Enterprise Application Development. Managed the design and construction of Livingston’s US Customs Brokerage system in a .NET C# WPF WCF environment.  The development of this system involved the management of teams in Canada, US, Mexico and India with a budget of $4M.

Point of Sale. Managed the development of a Funeral Home Point of Sales application in a Java environment.  The development of this application allowed Arbor’s Funeral Homes to increase revenue an average of $200.00 per arrangement.  This project involved 5 internal developers and a budget of $250,000.00.

Big Data. Architected and managed the creation of Woodbine’s Marketing Data Lake that enabled Woodbine to automate its Marketing activities and gather in-depth customer insights.

Ensured successful audits by instituting Project and Development standards and procedures.
