The India Scrum Enthusiasts Community hosted the Regional Scrum Gathering® India - Pune 2013 in the city of Pune, India, on 26-27 July, 2013. Let me present here a brief summary of the conference.
Over the two days, we had 556 participants attending keynotes, presentations, workshops, and coaching clinics.
The event was well attended and generated a lot of enthusiasm among Scrum practitioners in India. India is one of the fastest-growing Scrum-adopting markets worldwide, and the practitioners were really excited by this first Regional Scrum Gathering in the nation.
To promote the event, we sent out 70,000 mailers, along with "road shows" at large organizations and a social media blitz on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The event was supported by 18 industry and user groups from across India. Sponsors included Allscripts, Simplilearn, Xebia, and PMI.
We had 556 delegates, 37 speakers, and 15 volunteers supporting the event. The audience was made up of developers, managers, SMs, and executives from India and neighboring countries including Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
The conference was centered on three different themes, based on the experience level of the attendees:
"Scrum Star Trek," for advanced practices from the Scrum and Agile world
"Scrum from the Trenches," covering the basics
"Scrum Accomplished," presenting case studies on Scrum adoption
The audience was very happy with the learning from the event, and we got quite a few tweets and e-mails of appreciation. In particular, the keynote addresses from Bob Hartman and Jurgen Appelo were enlightening for the audience; they were pleased to have interacted with these Scrum experts.
The coaching clinic was also well received, with participation from 9 coaches and 58 participants.

I would like to thank everyone involved for all the help in making this conference successful, including Bob Hartman for his wonderful keynote address and the Scrum Alliance for providing us this opportunity. We look forward to hosting the 2014 session of the conference (by popular demand) and making it bigger and better.
