We're Making Great Progress for Minneapolis

The NAGT (North American Gathering Team) had its second face-to-face meeting in Denver, Colorado on November 11. Our primary purpose was to put together the program for SGMSP18.

This was an all-day event with lots of give and take. (Note: No NAGT members were harmed in the making of this program). We took the input from our review teams and are convinced that we’ve come up with a tremendous plan for Global Scrum Gathering® Minneapolis.

Acceptance and rejection emails have been sent out. If you think SGMSP18 will be another run-of-the-mill event, you’re in for a surprise. We truly believe we’re going to stimulate great conversations about the state of Scrum and Agile in the world.

What’s New: Something for Everyone

Global Scrum Gatherings are often focused on the Scrum Team, but we're reinforcing this idea at SGMSP18, with workshops and talks geared specifically (and organically) toward Product Owners, ScrumMasters, and Team Members.

ScrumMasters will learn how to improve their servant leadership and coach their teams to greatness. Product Owners will deepen their skills in working with the team to create amazing products, not just manage a backlog. And Scrum Team members in particular will find that this year’s Gathering has the most developer-focused sessions we've ever had, with practical workshops for all skill levels.

The takeaway message here is this: Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, and no matter what your role in your organization, we have the sessions you’ve been looking for to take the next steps!

What’s Next: Unlocking the Right Keynotes

The NAGT has compiled a list of potential keynote speakers we feel the community would enjoy. We completed our team dot voting and are currently pursuing those individuals whom we hope will give attendees a meaningful and awesome listening and learning experience.  We plan to announce keynotes in early 2018, so stay tuned!

Minneapolis: Twin Cities. Endless Possibilities.

Special thanks to Bria Johnson, CSM®, for her insider’s guide to Minneapolis!

Minneapolis may be known for its winters but, take it from us – it’s cool in many other ways, too. From sports and the arts, to great shopping and natural beauty, the Twin Cities and surrounding areas offer a wealth of attractions to explore.

The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis features one of the most acclaimed modern and contemporary art collections in the United States. The striking building by Herzog and de Meuron is worth the visit in and of itself. The neighboring Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is one of the largest urban sculpture gardens in the United States with 40 permanent installations and many featured pieces.

The Fort Snelling Historic Site offers a unique view of early American history. Established in 1819 at the site of a frontier outpost, it was deemed a historic landmark in 1960 and contains the Round Tower, the oldest structure still standing in the State of Minnesota. It’s also surrounded by Fort Snelling State park, a beautiful destination for hiking, biking, and fishing – all in the heart of the Twin Cities.

We look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis for the biggest, most dynamic North American Scrum Gathering to date! Here we go, #SGMSP18!
