Being a Product Owner entails a ton more than creating and maintaining a stack ranked product backlog. While foundationally, materials in Scrum Certification classes cover the basics, this course far exceeds the basics. People who have attended this session have expressed that they have learned more about the role of the product owner in the first day than they have in over 5 years of practical experience. Trainers and teachers all over the world have created a variety of teaching styles and techniques. This learning session and workshop promises to be like no other you have ever attended. My promise to you is as follows:
1) While this class is based on the Scrum Method within the Agile Framework, the teachings are not bound or limited to theory. We dig deep in class and help people solve pressing problems and issues they are facing.
2) If your only goal for taking the class to earn the letters CSPO behind your signature, this class is not for you, you will fail. Our primary goal is to place you in first person scenarios where you can learn how to really execute as a Product Owner, not just recall what the book says you should do. You will leave with new tools to help you perform your job better.
3) Scrum is not ONLY all about software anymore, nor is it an all or nothing prospect. This class will point out real world examples of how well known organizations from startup to enterprise have adopted Scrum and witnessed dramatic incremental changes. While software is still a very important industry where Scrum can be applied, many organizations are finding ways to apply this method throughout their organization. This is not a back of the room type training and does require much participation from each attendee.
Each participant will leave with a manual to serve as a reference document, which can be used to reinforce best practices when it comes to implementing Scrum and a membership to the Scrum Alliance. Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will be recognized by the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Scrum Product Owner.
This class is applicable and recommended to all levels and roles in an Agile project that may encounter Product Ownership responsibilities including but not limited to: Sponsors, Stakeholders, Portfolio Managers, Release Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Functional Analysts, Technical Analysts, Customers, & Consumers.
All other roles are welcome and should realize that the focus of this session is Product Ownership.
There are no class prerequisites. We do encourage you to arrive well rested and prepared for a full day of fun and interactive learning.
