If you work on a ‘product side’ as a Product Owner or Product Manager, play any role in Product Team such as Business Analyst,  User Interaction Designer, or helping Product Owner as a scrum team member - this class fits your needs.

The program is specially designed to integrate participants with different experiences and roles. By learning fundamental concepts, sharing different stories and practicing concrete tools, you will improve both - your product ownership mindset and skills.

The format provides various opportunities to ‘taste’ the Product Owner’s role through many workshops, simulations, and group discussions. Be ready for hard fun!

This two-day course complies the Certified Scrum Product Owner learning objectives of Scrum Alliance. It is focused on both - increasing product value and process effectiveness through  eliminating different types of product and process waste.

You will learn “Yin” and “Yang” of Agile Development: Product Discovery and Product Delivery, as two mutually reinforcing objectives of skillful Product Owner.

Course duration: 2 full days.

Group size: from 10 to 20 participants.

Certification conditions: In order to be certified, a participant may be late or absent for not more than 1 hour and only with prior permission from the trainer.
 

Approximate work schedule:

  • 09:30 - registration, opening of the day

  • 10:00 - beginning of the programme

  • 13:00 - one-hour lunch break

  • 18:00 - closing of the day


Other features of learning flow:

  • Coffee breaks are held in mode 90/15 min. or 60/10 min.

Day 1: PRODUCT DISCOVERY

  1. Set the Stage
    Meet colleagues & trainers, understand learning process: agreements, tools & visual artifacts.

  2. Choose a Product Idea
    Learn simple brainstorming techniques, practice teamwork towards common goals and make quick group decisions.

  3. Create a High-level Vision
    Learn how to obtain a high-level vision of the product idea quickly and present it to potential users, investors & team members.

  4. Understand Users
    Identify your assumptions about customers and create a clear picture of their needs and goals.

  5. Conduct Interviews
    Prepare for productive interviews with potential customers, which will help you to test key hypotheses about them.

  6. Learn from Customer Development
    Collaborate as a team to analyse results of the interviews, sort new ideas, and test assumptions about User Persona.

  7. Craft your Value Proposition
    Identify what makes your customers use your product, so that you would focus on the significant value proposition.

  8. Create Hi-level Requirement Model and cut MVP
    Define a scope of your first Release, using the Story Map and focusing on the Minimum Viable Product.

  9. Improve your understanding of the PO Role
    Analyse the learning process and reflect on your understanding of the Product Owner’s role.

Day 2: AGILE DELIVERY

  1. Inspire Changes using Agile Values & Principles
    Understand benefits of Agile Software Development and employ them while changing management process in your organization;

  2. Understand Scrum Flow
    Find Agile values and principles behind Scrum framework and see it as an ecosystem of roles, meetings and artifacts.

  3. Manage Stakeholders Expectations
    Clarify expectations, prioritize requirements and manage communication channels between stakeholders and development team.

  4. Prioritize all Job-To-Be-Done
    Find who influences your decision making process and identify helpful facilitation techniques.

  5. Work regularly on Product Requirements
    Learn Product Backlog basics such as different types of PBI, Acceptance criteria, etc. Take a look at requirements decomposition as a part of grooming a backlog and preparing for planning.

  6. Dive Deep in Scrum Role Playing
    Define Scrum Roles, clarify their responsibilities and rights and discuss common misconceptions. Describe their interaction and collaboration during Scrum meetings.

  7. Agree on Definition of Done
    Learn DoD as an important tool enabling the team to maintain quality, predict its capacity, build potentially shippable products in sprints, and improve over time.

  8. Determine Release Dates and Plan
    Understand principles of mid-term planning, work effort estimation & team capacity.  Learn how to work both with changing requirements and estimated release dates.

  9. Improve your PO Role understanding
    Analyse the learning process and reflect on your understanding of the Product Owner’s role.
