Scrum is a simple framework but hard to do well. It is especially so for the Product Owner role. As the Product Owner you represent the customers, users, and business stakeholders of the product or service in development. As such you are accountable for making sure that the development team is working on the right things based on the latest information and understanding of the market and business environment.
This two-day training aims to arm the Product Owner with a solid understanding of the Scrum framework and with a variety of concrete techniques for tackling the practical challenges of this demanding role.
Our training methods lean on active, participative learning techniques based on a combination of new concepts, first-hand experience in applying the concepts through group exercises, and reflective thinking around those experiences. Brain science shows that the most effective way to learn is a combination of active doing and questioning, building on what we already know and focusing attention to topics that participants have a native interest in.
Participants are expected to possess basic knowledge of Scrum and the more practical experience the group has the more potential there is for a deep learning experience. With this in mind, we suggest participants read an introductory text on Scrum before the course. Recommended sources for such information include The Scrum Primer (http://www.scrumprimer.com), a thorough online description of Scrum, and a compact book called The Elements of Scrum (http://www.amazon.com/dp/0982866917), which is also an excellent introductory book on Scrum.
Though each CSPO course varies depending on the instructor, all Certified Scrum Product Owner® courses focus on Scrum from a product owner's perspective. Graduates will receive the CSPO designation. All CSPO course are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers.
