Learn the Scrum framework for an agile project and the essentials of working as a ScrumMaster or Scrum team member. Through a fun mix of theoretical explanation, problem exploration and practical exercises, this 3–day course expands on the traditional 2–day CSM to cover additional topics to greater equip attendees for their first Scrum project or enable them to reflect on their projects and become more agile.
Attendees will learn, through doing and questioning, about the traditional CSM concepts and artefacts such as the Product Backlog, release planning, Sprint planning, the Daily Scrum and burndown charts as well as additional material around the role of the Product Owner, issues around Scrum transformations while going further in–depth into the issues ScrumMasters and Scrum teams will face. They will also learn that, despite being a simple framework, it is deceptively simple in that Scrum requires discipline and hard work to be effective.
Each aspect of the Scrum framework is explained in terms of its principles, its relation to the rest of the framework and is supplemented with stories of real–life examples while also giving the attendees the opportunity to explore the concepts in fun, practical case–studies.
Questions and conversations are encouraged throughout and there is also a dedicated Q&A session to explore the concerns and practical queries of the attendees which helps to put the learning in to context. Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss their Scrum issues so please feel free to come to the course with questions to discuss.
This course is NOT recommended for people who have already taken a 2–day CSM class unless they are looking for a refresher. Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will be eligible for certification as a Certified ScrumMaster with the Scrum Alliance.
