As a software company executive or senior manager, you’ve likely noticed that your role is changing. A job that used to be about driving people to achieve results is now about enabling teams to be hyper-productive. The question is, how can today’s leaders build teams that outpace everyone else? Scrum, an agile framework, has been used successfully to build hyper-productive teams. In this video you will learn the values and principles of agile, what Scrum is, its base components, and how to work with Scrum teams to enable success.

In this video, Mitch Lacey, author of The Scrum Field Guide: Practical Advice for your First Year, will share his experiences helping teams adopt the Scrum framework in companies both large and small. He will also reveal patterns of successful teams. High-level managers and C-suite executives will gain a set of ideas, concepts, tools and techniques to help them lead the organization to a higher productive state.

    Outline

    • Overview of Agile – Learn how the principles and values of agile and Scrum form the foundation of a successful organization.
    • Roles in Scrum - The roles are simple but understanding them and making a fluid, dynamic team is hard. This section dives into the roles and how they work together.
    • Artifacts in Scrum - Mapping project plans and managing specifications can be a challenge, especially if everything is done up front. In this section, we look at the artifacts in Scrum and how the work that has been done traditionally is still there but is handled differently.
    • Meetings - Scrum appears to have more meetings, which might at first seem like too much overhead. Understanding what the meetings are for and how they build dynamic, high performing teams is crucial to a successful Scrum implementation.
    • Managers - What is the role of executives in an agile organization? Or a development lead or manager of a Scrum team for that matter? In this section we will explore the less talked about parts of implementing Scrum - the role of managers - and look at patterns for success.
