Plugar Informações Estratégicas, R&D Manager
March 2009 - Present, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
I've been working with R&D on Plugar since 2009, developing products and libraries related to information extraction, information retrieval, data visualization and natural language processing. Since 2010 my team has been using Scrum and we were able to achieve higher productivity and better results since then.
The three main projects we worked on during that period were: a competitive intelligence software called Discovery, an OCR / image identification project for a partner company and an information retrieval tool for that same company. Our team is pretty small, often no more than 5 people are working in a project, and we work closely with our clients, internal and external, so they can act as Product Owners. We have combined Scrum with other techniques/methods such as planning poker, Kano model, MoSCoW classifcation, innovation games, user story mapping and others.
