Paul Barnes

Director, Flex Project Management Ltd

Location: London

Paul Barnes started his agile career in 2007 as The Collinson Group was making a transition from waterfall led methodologies to Agile. This transition for both the company and Paul's project management approach started with Scrum training and implementation on key products for the company. In 2009 Paul emigrated to Canada where he worked for Club Penguin. Whilst there, he delivered the game's first iOS app and won stakeholder engagement to run the project entirely within a Scrum framework. After two years, Paul returned to the UK and became a freelancer for the Collinson Group, delivering a new product with a distributed agile team adopting Scrum practices. From there, Paul enjoyed working with Tesco to build the Clubcard and Tesco Grocery iOS and Android apps. The role also explored R&D opportunities to bring new technology and value to the Tesco ecosystem. Whilst at Tesco, Paul led a team of eight engineers in the UK and India and coached on Agile best practices. Paul went onto the Head of Projects role at Toptal, building the framework for Agile project delivery to clients all over the world with distributed developers, engineers and testers using scrum to deliver client products. Through his roles at Equal Experts and Methods, Paul has worked with clients where scrum adoption or agile transformation have been integral parts to many varied and challenging software environments.
