Biography

Mark LaCoursiere

I'm a Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified Scrum Master currently working as a Senior Agile Project Manager with SPH Analytics.  My current role was designed to help with adoption and implementation of agile practices throughout the organization as well as to coach and train the agile teams and their supporting roles.  This affords me the ability to create agile training materials and to facilitate the training of all Scrum Team members as we ramp up on new practices.

Previously I worked at CareerBuilder.com in several roles that helped me evolve as an agile practitioner.  I started learning scrum when I was a Reporting Analyst and BI Developer.  I volunteered to be our team’s Scrum Master and my love for Project Management took off from there.  I moved into a dedicated Scrum Master role and also became certified as a Scrum Product Owner so that I could address the challenges of having a unified product vision that is effectively communicated and translated throughout the organization and within the engineering team.  To get a first-hand perspective on the PO role, I became a PO for a period of six months and learned how critical it is to write proper stories for team success.

From there I moved on to a team of Agile Project Managers in a senior role and was able to coach other project managers on agile best practices.  I even had some limited exposure to the world of leadership when volunteering to help a program manager that was out on leave.  This gave me some great insight into managing people through influence and dependency management.
