Biography

James Brown is the Program Management Infrastructure Director within the Platform Management organization for DuPont. James is responsible for building and maintaining a world-class organization that supports the development of many projects, programs and portfolios which span across the DuPont organization. James is also the Chairman of the Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE). James joined DuPont in 2010. Prior to joining DuPont, James held the position of Director, Program Management Office for Rockwell Automation. While at Rockwell Automation, he was responsible for an overall portfolio of product development programs. His organization was awarded the 2009 PMO of the Year Award, which is co-sponsored by PM Solutions and the Project Management Institute. James has over 20 years of project and program management experience with large and mid-size corporations such as Lockheed Martin, Intel, Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia, Lucent, Nortel and Mentor Graphics. He was a principle partner in a UK-based startup which is now a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange. James has worked on projects and programs of various sizes ranging from $150K to over $3 billion in annual spend. He has successfully built several PMOs and provided improvements in many more either as a manager or consultant. His projects have been in support of various industries such as government services, military/defense, mobile technology, industrial automation, aerospace, electrical power conditioning and biotechnology. James holds a BBA and MBA from the University of Houston, an Advanced Masters Certificate in Project Management and Masters Certificate in Program Management from George Washington University. James holds all available certifications from the Project Management Institute (one of only seven in the world), is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and a certified Scrum Master, Product Owner and Practitioner.

Recruited to build portfolio/program/project management expertise. Identified existing business gaps and provided strategic framework to accelerate process improvements. Implemented PMO infrastructure enabling increased productivity. World-wide recruitment of PMO staff to support global business needs. Established PM Center of Excellence across the entire Pioneer network. Key stakeholder and steering committee member for DuPont Project Management Initiative. Established Pioneer as a Registered Education Provider within the Project Management Institute. Developed core project management training material used across Pioneer/DuPont.
