Biography

Eric Johnston is an Oklahoma City based IT Analyst currently working for the Federal Aviation Administration.  Eric has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, ranging from his first job as a web developer in streaming media to his current position where he manages the requirements, standards, and user experience teams in the Solutions Delivery Division.  Eric is a strong advocate for improving public sector IT practices through agile software practices, with particular focus on agile project management and requirements practices. An Oklahoma native, Eric graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of business administration in management information systems, was a distinguished graduate from National Defense University where he earned a master of science in Government Information Leadership, and maintains numerous certifications in Scrum, federal acquisitions, and enterprise architecture.

Acted as the Requirements Analyst (Team Member) and Product Owner on the AeroNav Products Procedure Workflow System (APWS). The successful deliverable for this project is a web based application that can track the life-cycle (workflow) of an Instrument Flight Procedure, from initial request until it is published for the general aviation public. This application is one application within a highly complex system-of-systems used for tracking all data associated with instrument flight procedures.

Acted as Requirements Analyst (Team Member) on multiple IT projects within the FAA. After achieving my Scrum Certification, I began coaching teams in which I was a member on new agile best practices. This involved the adoption of Scrum and Agile Software Requirements practices.
