I am a Senior Agile Project Manager / Scrum Master with extensive experience leading major global systems delivery projects (applying Agile and Scrum methodologies) predominantly, although by no means exclusively, within the international banking sector. I am currently completing a short term Agile Delivery consultancy assignment on behalf of the BBVA Bank in Madrid where I was selected by the Bank’s recently appointed Global Head of Customer Experience to put in place a clear digital strategy for improving BBVA’s customer relationship management. On her appointment earlier in 2015, Global Head of Customer Experience had quickly discerned that the transformation team of 400 within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE) for which she was responsible had little understanding of user problems, and that this deficiency was seriously impeding BBVA’s stated goal of becoming one of the world’s most user-centric banks. Needing not only a Spanish speaker, but also a digital expert with wide experience of managing large scale transformation projects within the global banking sector, she duly recruited me through a top London agency. This project, along with the many others I have undertaken in banking and other sectors, has now been completed to BBVA’s very specific requirements (and the satisfaction of its Directors), on time and within budget. Most importantly a review on how their internal Scrum teams can deliver products which are of value to the user, in order to fulfil the premise of being the most user centred bank in the world. The output of this work, was managing a UX / Design team that produced a backlog that was justified through user research and conceptual iteration in advance of a product increment. My deliverable to the company was a recommendation that research and design thinking should take place at portfolio level in their current SaFe process, in order to distribute work effectively to their Scrum teams. This will produce products of value to the customer. This role was most of an agile consultant role. Previous to this role I was acting as Scrum Master to various clients in the financial sector, technology sector and retail. This is where my experience of acting as Scrum Master was gained, by delivering amazing products with great teams using Scrum.
