General instructions for completing the REP Application

The Scrum Alliance REP® program is designed to authorize certain well-qualified businesses and instructors to offer and instruct Scrum Alliance Continuing Education and Certified Scrum Developer® (CSD®) courses. Applicants will be authorized as REPs upon (1) successful completion of this application; (2) successful approval of business, course, and trainer reviews; and (3) signing and submitting the corresponding current form of the Scrum Alliance REP Agreement.

The requirements and instructions outlined on this page will guide you through the process of submitting proper documentation to be considered a Registered Education Provider. The completed application and all corresponding documentation will be treated as confidential and distributed to Scrum Alliance-authorized reviewers only.

What to submit

This section details the requirements and requested documentation for business, course, and instructor information.

 

BUSINESS INFORMATION
Any company or business applying to become a REP will need to provide evidence of legitimate business structure by providing the following documentation:

  1. REP Application Signature Document: Mac users, please check your downloads after clicking this link.
  2. Articles of incorporation or other evidence of corporate entity.
  3. Please provide a document explaining the following:
    • Business structure
    • Organizational stakeholders
    • Organizational mission/vision 

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE INFORMATION

  1. ASSOCIATED INSTRUCTOR(S)
    1. Please provide a list of instructors that should be associated with each course, shoud the course be approved. 
    2. Each course instructor must be Scrum Alliance authorized (see Instructor Information section) or a current Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST®).
  2. COURSE CONTENT
    1. Unique, measurable learning objectives for course content.
    2. Statement of purpose (i.e., lesson plan) of course, main goal(s)/objective(s), time frame, intended audience.
    3. Student prerequisites (must describe level of Scrum or Agile knowledge required or any Scrum Alliance certifications required for student attendance).
    4. Supporting information regarding course content. Examples include handouts, slide deck, video, web links, activity outlines, curriculum, syllabus, supporting text(s), workbook, etc.
  3. ALIGNMENT WITH SCRUM ALLIANCE EDUCATION STRATEGY
    1. Course objectives and content must align with Scrum Alliance Mission and Vision: to guide and inspire individuals, leaders, and organizations with practices, principles, and values that create workplaces that are joyful, prosperous, and sustainable.
    2. Course content cannot compete with any Scrum Alliance current or proposed course offerings or certifications.

 

CERTIFIED SCRUM DEVELOPER (CSD) COURSE INFORMATION

Please read the Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) Learning Objectives and provide the following supporting documentation.

  1. ASSOCIATED INSTRUCTOR(S)
    1. Please provide a list of instructors that should be associated with each course, should the course be approved. 
    2. Each CSD course instructor must be Scrum Alliance authorized (see Instructor Information section) or a current Certified Scrum Trainer (CST).
    3. If the course is technical in nature, the associated instructor must demonstrate specific technical education and technical experience through the instructor’s resume or curriculum vitae. Instructors for a technical course should have programming experience in a conventional programming language.
  2. ALIGNMENT WITH SCRUM ALLIANCE CERTIFIED SCRUM DEVELOPER LEARNING OBJECTIVES

      • In this document, be sure to include the following:
        • The Course Name of your CSD Course
        • Which component of the CSD Track this course will meet:
          • Track 1:
            • CSM Course (2 Days) **if taught by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST)**
            • CSD Technical Course (Must include coding) (3 days)
          • Track 2: 
            • Introduction to Scrum (1 day)
            • CSD Technical Course (must include coding) (3 days)
            • Technical Elective (1 day)

      • Please create a mapping between your CSD course content and the Certified Scrum Developer Learning Objectives.
  3. COURSE CONTENT

INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION

  1. INSTRUCTIONAL EXPERIENCE
    1. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
      • Must demonstrate at least two years formal instructional experience in any topic(s).
    2. Personal statement of instructional path and goals.
    3. Please provide a list of courses that should be associated with each instructor, should the instructor be approved.
    4. Instructional Experience Spreadsheet: Mac users, please check your downloads after clicking this link.
      • Must provide information demonstrating successful instruction of at least 10 multi-day courses with a minimum of 100 students in total. 
      • For University-based instruction, a semester or quarter-based course supersedes the multi-day course requirement. 
  2. EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
    1. Describe course of study, and/or instructional certifications earned, including professional development experience.
      • Please list location, institution name, certification description(s).
      • This information can be included on the instructor’s resume/CV, if applicable.
    2. Describe any Agile-specific training or certification. A Scrum Alliance Continuing Education instructor should hold at least one foundational Scrum Alliance certification (CSM, CSPO, and/or CSD).
    3. Please describe in detail the course dates, location, content, certifying body, etc.
  3. DEMONSTRATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL CAPABILITY
    1. Please submit at least two letters of recommendation that highlight your training ability and instructional skills. 
      • Each recommendation should be submitted as a signed document (preferably on letterhead) with the author’s contact information listed. Recommendations submitted in email format will not be accepted.
      • Please be aware that Scrum Alliance may follow up directly with recommendation authors.  
    2. Please submit complete student feedback from a maximum of four courses.
      • You may submit hard-copy forms (scanned) or online survey data.
      • If the feedback is not in English, please provide translation. 
      • You should select courses that show the most comments related to you as an instructor.
      • If co-training, you should provide students with your own feedback form so that they have an opportunity to comment directly on YOUR skills, independent from those of the co-trainer.
  4. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 
    1. Instructional portfolio including examples of personally created and unique supplemental course content created (handouts, slide deck, learning objectives, lesson plans, syllabus, etc.). 
      • Please ensure that proper credit is given for ideas that are not your own by citing sources. Proper attribution must be given when using trademarked/copyrighted material. Also request permission(s) when appropriate for photos, illustrations, etc. 
    2. Video(s) of live instruction (optional, not required)
      • Please provide an invitation to Dropbox (or comparable) folder containing the video files or a document with video link(s) (YouTube or comparable site).
  5. CSD INSTRUCTORS, please provide the following in addition to all of the above:
    1. Please provide a copy of your current CSD certification, which is a requirement for being a CSD instructor. 
    2. If the course is technical in nature, please demonstrate specific technical education and technical experience through your resume or CV. Instructors for a technical course should have programming experience in a conventional programming language. Instructors should write, test, and review code in a technical course.

How to submit application materials

All documents must be in English, or translated. Electronic documents must be in MS Office and/or PDF formats.

Documentation must be compressed in a zip file identified with your business name. Please also create the associated sub-folders to organize your materials:

  1. Business Information
  2. Continuing Education Course Information
  3. CSD Course Information (if applicable)
  4. Instructor Information

Fees

Upon approval of your REP application, you will be provided with the REP Agreement and an invoice based on the following fees:

Annual Provider Fee

  • The $1,000 annual provider fee is due upon approval as a Scrum Alliance Registered Education Provider (REP) and will be prorated for the remainder of the year.
  • The nonrefundable annual provider fee is due by January 31 of each year.
  • The annual provider fee is waived for Certified Scrum Trainers (CSTs), as it is considered covered under the annual CST certification fee.

Student Transaction Fees
Nonrefundable transaction fees are applicable upon teaching courses and apply to all students uploaded to the Scrum Alliance website, as outlined below. Scrum Alliance Scrum Education Units® (SEUs) will be recorded upon student upload and payment.

  • CSD* Student Course Fee: $25.00 (U.S.) per student/per day
  • Continuing Education* Student Course Fee: There is currently NO student fee for Continuing Education courses.

*Please note that regardless of student fees, the loading of students is mandatory for each and every course that you list on the Scrum Alliance website. Continuing Education and CSD courses offered by our REP partners are a valuable means for our members to attain Scrum Education Units® (SEUs), which can only be claimed if a student has been loaded into our system.

Fees quoted above are based on the pricing structure effective as of January 1, 2016, and are subject to change.

 

Approved REPs: Adding Courses and Instructors

Once you have been approved as a REP and strive to expand your business, you may submit additional courses and instructors for review and approval.
