Denver, CO,— SCRUM ALLIANCE
®, the largest, most established and influential professional membership organization and certifying body in the Agile community, announced the speakers and new educational tracks for the first Global Scrum Gathering
® of 2017, which takes place in San Diego April 10–12.
The gathering features keynote addresses from Jeff Sutherland, the cofounder of Scrum, coauthor of the Agile Manifesto and author of
The Scrum Guide, as well as Lisa W. Hershman, interim CEO of Scrum Alliance and coauthor of
Faster Cheaper Better: The 9 Levers for Transforming How Work Gets Done.
“Scrum Alliance’s Global Gatherings focus on empowering, inspiring, and building community among Scrum trainers and coaches,” Hershman said. “We’re excited to welcome Jeff, an original agilist and creator of the Scrum framework, and a host of other experts to share their insights.”
The San Diego event, the first of three Global Scrum Gatherings in 2017, is built around the theme “Looking Back, Looking Forward.” The Gathering will offer insight into the beginnings of Scrum, and from there create a picture of future goals and updates. Both the Agile mindset and the Scrum framework grew out of IT and software development, but Scrum Alliance is showing that they are applicable to a wide range of industries and sectors.
Three new tracks will be introduced at the Gathering. A “Scrum for Hardware” learning track will showcase the application of Scrum practices in new industries. Other tracks are “Champions of Agile,” which will challenge attendees to take Agile to the next level in their organizations; and “Agile Community,” focused on topics such as Scrum values, games, and user stories.
