Charleata (“Char”) Battle takes a vision and makes it a reality by providing a breadth of understanding of systems development life cycles of Agile Scrum, Kanban, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Battle demonstrates excellence in operational management and leadership for the continued development of an innovative and robust information technology portfolio of software and hardware by intuitively seeking threads of opportunity. Ms. Battle is a respected credible voice in decision making, developing strategic partnerships, and establishing governance boundaries.

Battle currently serves on the inaugural US Special Districts Advisory Board and periodically participates as a subject matter expert and promoter of technology at government technology events. Char is a strong advocate for technology innovations that puts people first and fundamentally improves in-the-moment experiences for users of technology.

In August 2017, Atlanta Housing Authority earned the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Southeastern Software Impact (SSA) Award for Corporate Internal Software Development for the HUD-50058 (58a2 Project), where Char Battle served as the Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®). The Epic 58a2 software development project led to a cost savings benefit in excess of $4 million dollars by simplifying and standardizing HUD data collection and reporting across 110 housing communities. The success of the 58a2 Project demonstrated Battle’s ability to collaborate with Scrum teams, and to practically apply the principles of Agile Scrum for software development, testing and implementation.

The primary responsibilities of her role encompass a wide variety of strategic applications and planning to meet agency-wide software application needs. Actions include exploration of internal and external custom software development; whereby incremental product development cycles uphold the tenants of Agile Scrum and delivers tangible benefits at the conclusion of each Sprint.

Battle’s additional priorities include excellence in stewardship of Federal funds by creating and contributing to new operational policy and procedures, initiating requests for proposals, developing scopes of work, managing suppliers and contracts, preparing board resolutions and exercising skills in the areas of purchasing, analysis, negotiations, sourcing, and best practices according to the Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R) and U.S. Housing Urban Development (HUD) regulations.

Charleata’s Board experience includes US Special Districts Advisory Board Member, Government Technology and Atlanta Board of Realtors, Director & Membership Director. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Management from American Intercontinental University and a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Management from Georgia State University.
