History: 

The Allerton's rich history began in the roaring twenties when it opened as a residential "club hotel." One of the first high-rises on Michigan Avenue, its beautiful Northern Italian Renaissance architecture stood in contrast to the existing Georgian and Tudor Revival cityscape.

By the 1940s, when the famous Tip Top Tap sign was first illuminated, the hotel was known around town as one of the most exciting social hot spots. It gained nationwide attention during the 1950's when Don McNeil broadcast a popular radio program from the 23rd floor lounge. Famous Hollywood legends like Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Ginger Rogers, and James Stewart were featured guests. In June 1998 the City of Chicago designated The Allerton as an historic landmark and a $60 million renovation project was launched. Today, guests experience the charming history of our property complimented by luxurious accommodations and state-of-the-art facilities.

 		 Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Allerton Hotel serves as the Landmark Hotel on Michigan Avenue. You'll be right at home in the heart of Chicago.

The Allerton's restaurant and lounge offer contemporary cuisine in a relaxed setting where complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available. A full-service fitness center is available for guest use 24 hrs. daily.

Guest rooms, recently renovated, feature queen-sized beds and new furnishings with elegant, contemporary lines. With guests' comfort and convenience in mind, all guest rooms feature flat screen TVs, MP3-compatible clock radios, in-room movies, cordless phones, bathrobes, slippers, luxurious bath products and complimentary coffee and tea. Rooms include in-room safes, hair dryers irons and ironing boards. High-speed Internet access, newspaper delivery and turn-down service are available at an additional charge.

Scrum Gathering attendees are responsible for all applicable taxes, incidental and any in-room service charges.

Hotel Cancellation Policy - All cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to arrival date to avoid a charge of the first night's room and tax.

Check-in time: 3:00 p.m. Check-out time: 12:00 p.m. A late departure charge will apply for anyone checking out after 12:00 p.m. Guests who check out of the hotel prior to their scheduled departure date will be charged a $75 early departure fee.

Transportation:

Driving Directions from O'Hare Airport - Take I-90 East (Kennedy Expressway) to the Ohio Street exit (50B). Ohio is a one-way street. Continue straight ahead on Ohio Street for about three-fourths of a mile. Turn left on St. Clair and then an immediate left onto Huron Street. The hotel entrance is on Huron Street.

Driving Directions from Midway Airport - Take Cicero Avenue northbound to I-55 North (Stevenson Expressway). Take I-55 to I-90/94 West. Follow I-90/94 to the Ohio Street Exit (50B). Ohio is a one-way street. Continue straight ahead on Ohio Street for about three-fourths of a mile. Turn left on St. Clair and then an immediate left onto Huron Street. The hotel entrance is on Huron Street.

Estimated Taxi Fare to/from Airports - One-way fare to/from O'Hare Airport: $45 (driving time approx. 30 min.) One-way fare to/from Midway Airport: $35 (driving time approx. 20 min.)

Public Transportation from O'Hare Airport - From baggage claim, follow overhead signs to Rapid Transit train. Take the Blue Line to the Washington Street stop, through the tunnel toward State Street, and then back up the stairs. Board the Red Line (Howard Line) and exit at Chicago/State. Walk two blocks east to Michigan Ave. Turn right on Michigan Ave., then left on Huron Street. The Allerton Hotel entrance is on Huron Street on the left-hand side, and the lobby is located on the second floor.

Public Transportation from Midway Airport - From baggage claim, follow the signs to the Rapid Transit train. Take the Orange Line to the State/Lake stop. Walk down to the street level, and enter the subway on State Street. Board the northbound Red Line (Howard Line) and exit at Chicago/State. Walk two blocks east to Michigan Ave. Turn right on Michigan Av., then left on Huron Street. The Allerton Hotel entrance is on Huron Street on the left-hand side, and the lobby is located on the second floor.

Airport Shuttle Service - Continental Airport Express, Inc. (+1.800.2THEVAN) offers service from 04:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. One-way single fare: $25; roundtrip single fare: $46.

Valet Parking - Unlimited in and out privileges are available. Daily rate: $45.
