Debra Swoboda
My professional career in IT really started in 1987 as a computer programmer. I had the opportunity to work for the Department of Defense in Tokyo, Japan for 5 years. My responsibilites grew to include managing a point-of-sale and inventory management computer system used for bookstores located on U.S. military bases throughout the Pacific region.
Upon returning to the U.S. I've worked as an effective liaison between technical and non-technical people in the role of a business analyst for several different companies. I have developed excellent communication and interpersonal skills dealing with a variety of stakeholders including clients (domestic and international). I have worked for software companies in the credit card, academic, and web-based search industries.
In addition to doing business analysis work, I have done software training in both corporate and academic settings. I really enjoy the interaction with people.
My experience with leading cross-functional teams includes most recently my position as Business Analyst for a company that made the switch from a waterfall environment to an Agile Scrum environment. What a difference that has made in terms of our delivery to our clients.
I am currently certified as both a Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master and have over 2-1/2 years experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
