Gary B. Morgan, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Senior Program Manager in National Security
Gary Morgan believes in accelerating innovation. As Senior Program Manager in the National Security Directorate, the largest research and development component at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Washington, Morgan leads a new program for the Chief Research Officer aimed at accelerating the “translation of science to solutions” and early deployment of technologies developed under laboratory initiatives. Each year, PNNL directly funds these initiatives to focus on break-through science and develop unique technologies to meet market needs. Morgan has over 30 years of experience in industry, managing new product development and product introduction into the marketplace. He was founder/co-founder of three successful start-up companies. Since joining PNNL in 1991, Morgan has managed three laboratory initiatives and served as the acting CEO for a Richland-based start-up in which Battelle (PNNL’s operating company) held an equity position. He also spent eight years as a Commercialization Manager at the Laboratory, where he led several highly successful deployments of national security-related technology. Morgan holds a graduate degree in electrical engineering/information systems from Columbia University as part of the Bell Laboratories Graduate Study Program. He has five patents in his name, has published numerous papers, and appears in Who’s Who in Computing.
