Deb Springstead is an Agile Coach in the Program Excellence organization at GE Healthcare. In this capacity she is primarily responsible for coaching about 15 teams per year through the transition from Big Upfront Planning to Agile/Scrum. In addition to this Ms. Springstead works on a number of related initiatives including the annual GE Agile Conference. Prior to coming to GE Healthcare, she had been practicing Project Management for about 12 years: first on engineering projects at Ford Motor Company and then on IT projects at HP Enterprise Services (formerly EDS). The last two projects that she consulted on were large Agile/Scrum projects: (1) a confidential project at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and (2) OnStar at GM. Like many Project Managers, Ms. Springstead originally came from a technical background. She began her career in Database Design and Development, and Manufacturing and Process Engineering. Ms. Springstead has a passion for education:she reads about 2 books per month and has obtained 3 degrees and 5 certifications. Her degrees are in Biology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering. Her certifications are: Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL v3 Foundations, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) and Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP).
