Richard Lynch has been on the front line of the business process reengineering, balanced scorecard, capability management and new growth platform developments both as a line manager and consultant. This blend of experiences has led to the development of many practical tools and methods to orchestrate sustainable change.
He has led a number of successful capability alignment and turnaround projects. For example, at Intercontinental Hotels Group, he helped achieved dramatic results by strategically refocusing work around strategic capabilities, implementing cost structure reductions of 30% while strengthening brands and increasing client market capitalization. His worked has been recognized with the 2004 "Excellence in Practice" citation for managing change from ASTD.
At a Global Risk Management company, he built a capability roadmap and aligned the IT funding model based on capability contribution. As a result, the company abandoned plan to outsource major parts of IT and strategic planning and budgeting are now aligned around capabilities.
A Regional Electric and Gas Utility team hired Rich for project prioritization and Senior Team alignment. Action learning workshops transferred critical skills for shared goal deployment, business process improvement and IT sourcing decisions.
Prior to consulting, Rich was part of the Quality Improvement team and Analog Devices and was the Director of Transition at the Faxon Company where he led an enterprise-wide reengineering effort (new systems, applications, and processes for e-commerce).
He is the lead author of Measure Up! How to Measure Corporate Performance (Blackwell, 2nd ed. 1995), Corporate Renaissance: The Art of Reengineering (Blackwell, 1994) and The Capable Company: Building the capabilities that make strategy work (Blackwell, 2003).
He has also published dozen of articles, white papers and manuals on leadership, high performance organizations and performance measurement including “HR’s Role in the CEO Growth Agenda” (HRP Journal, January 2008).
Rich received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts and a BS in Finance from Boston College.
