Mr. Westberg has more than 22 years’ experience engineering, designing, and developing software with 21 of those years focused on medical related software.  Currently he is part of the Harris/Agilex team as the technical lead and lead designer for NHIN CONNECT.  Previously, he has led the technical team on building the CHDR BHIE Interoperability Project which has successfully achieved system wide sharing of medical data for patients within both the VA and the DoD.  He also led the technical team to design and create the Terminology Service Bureau ontology system.  In addition, he has designed and built the CHDR Interoperability prototype which was used to share computable medical data between the VA and the DoD, the VA Health Data Repository, and the TRICARE Online Portal.  In 2008 he was honored to be selected as one of the Northrop Grumman IT Sector Technical Fellows.    He spent 12 years working for 3M where he was instrumental in the design and implementation of the 3M Care Innovation System – specifically the Health Data Dictionary.  He has been an active participant and leader in several standards organizations including HL7 and the Andover Working Group.  He was a committee chair as well as a board member of the Microsoft Healthcare Users Group.
