Jan is a Ph.D. educator with over 20 years' experience in the software industry. His experience covers the gamut of management, development, QA, and technical writing. His first practical exposure to Scrum was a dramatic eye-opening experience that for the first time demonstrated that there really was a better way to develop software. In the years since that epiphany, Jan has devoted himself to learning about all things Agile and has found his niche as an Agile trainer/coach.

Jan enjoys both the classroom setting and coaching teams in their Agile adoption, helping establish sound practices and solving practical problems on the ground. Jan is currently a Senior Agile Coach with Valtech Technologies, where he teaches, coaches, and serves as Product Owner for a variety of training courses.

Jan holds BA and MA degrees in history (yes -- history!) from Colorado State University and earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Training/coaching, research, and writing are his natural habitat.
