Jay Van Wetering
Jay began his project management career in 1996 with Shamrock Computer Resources, a small consulting firm in the Midwest. With Shamrock, Jay managed multi-million dollar projects utilizing remote programming teams (offshore) for customers First Data Resources, Airtouch (now Verizon), and John Deere. After piloting the offshore model for Shamrock and successfully managing several projects, he became program manager for the Global Outsourcing practice at Renaissance Worldwide, Inc., with project managers reporting to him.
Jay moved to the Director level with Renaissance, responsible for technical sales and delivery for Global Outsourcing projects across the nation. He worked closely with Account Executives and Branch Managers on responses to RFPs, sales calls, and presentations to help roll out the Global Outsourcing to all Renaissance branches across the nation.
Jay worked as a project manager for Physicians Mutual, a medium-sized insurance company based in Omaha, NE. After successfully managing projects for the Enterprise Technology Group and leading a team of analysts and project managers aligned with the Direct Marketing Group at Physicians, he moved to a program of projects at Physicians whose goal was to re-architect the core applications for Physicians. In that area, Jay managed an infrastructure project ($2.7million), a product modeling project (2.3million), and a legacy reverse engineering project ($1.2million).
Jay joined Microsoft Consulting Services approximately 2 years ago in early July, 2006. With MCS, Jay has worked on application development projects ranging from custom API development (VirtualEarth, Mappoint), database (SSRS, SSAS), storefront development (Commerce Server), Notes to Exchange migration. Jay recently finished a Microsoft Offices Sharepoint Server (MOSS) portal project, using MOSS to implement a customer services representative (CSR) portal for a major cable television provider.
