I've been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by family and friends that never limited my own potential. I was aloud to grow and express ideas and radical concepts without fear of ridicule. I decided over 14 year ago that I would begin doing the same for others. I spent 18 months as a full time volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, 12 months as an Adult Basic Education Teacher / Assistant and a tutor.
I've worked for over 13 years in software development, the last 8 in a combination of roles, as a Team Lead, leading an XP environment, and as a Product Owner for multiple SCRUM teams. I spent the last few years working with an organization that is active in community involvement, especially with children. I chose to give back to everyone that has opened my eyes and heart to the human condition, and the human spirit, by empowering people around me.
I also run exercises to improve transparency, openness, and team activities to promote and solidify the team environment. I have been adapting my team building exercises to the SCRUM philosophy.
Personal Philosophy:
To grow. To change. To adapt. To laugh. To cry. To smile. To think. To learn. To listen. and to give. Never forget what you are. Never forget where you came from, but, most importantly, never forget where you are going, and what you can become.
Then do something very simple; pass it on.
