Rob White is a Managing Consultant with Conchango and has a wealth of experience in mainstream Information Technology covering the last 30+ years. The majority of that time has been spent in the delivery of solutions to external and internal clients across industries and in a variety of countries. Rob’s involvement in the delivery of these solutions has been from the start of the sales cycle through to the delivery of the solution, encompassing the commercial, managerial and technical aspects of the project lifecycle. Rob believes that IT is only one of many enablers towards a business achieving its goals and prefers to operate where the business reasons are well understood and the business fully engaged in the project, irrespective of the role of the project, although appreciating the business advantage that can sometimes be gained from purely technical implementations. Rob, though in the end, is an IT professional with an emphasis on data modelling, databases, the movement of data and an understanding of the value of data to an organisation. For the last 15 years, Rob has been focused on the delivery of a Data Warehouse and BI solutions to companies across a variety of industries.   Briefly, his work experience comprises: ·      15 years as a consultant focusing on data warehousing solutions in both the UK and overseas.  Responsibilities have included programme and project management, business case development, logical and physical database design, system design and implementation. In the majority of cases, Rob’s involvement started during the sales cycle, where the engagements, due to their size, required board level sign off through to implementation.  6½ years of this time was with NCR, through their acquisition of Teradata, whose data warehousing client base include companies considered world leaders in their industry sectors.  Rob was a Senior Principal Consultant in NCR’s Data Warehousing Centre of Expertise covering EMEA. The activities performed included articulating NCR’s vision of Data Warehousing to potential clients and the subsequent implementation of that vision for a client.  The industries that Rob has worked within include the Finance, Telecommunication, Transportation, Retail, Manufacturing and Media industries.·      5 years with one of the leading UK Brewers as a project manager, business analyst and system designer. Responsible for the implementation of a number of operational systems, the key involvement was the development of the business case and design specifications for a replacement ERP system.·      The 11 years prior to this were spent working for two database vendors, Cullinet and Cincom, as a pre and post sales consultant; for part of the Inchcape Group as a branch manager responsible for their Sales, Technical Support and Administration functions; the Saudi Arabian Civil Aviation Authority as a project manager, database designer and implementer; and an Insurance company as a developer.
