Chris Sims is a Certified Scrum Trainer and the founder of Agile Learning Labs. He is the author of The Elements of Scrum, which is used as a textbook in colleges and by other scrum trainers. He has published over 50 articles on agile topics on InfoQ, and is a popular presenter on the agile circuit, where he is is known for his ability to get groups of 20 or even 200 people up and moving and learning by doing. Before becoming an engineer Chris made his living as a professional musician and band leader, and he still likes to put on a good show, in the classroom and elsewhere.

In his consulting practice, Chris helps software development teams improve their productivity and happiness through an approach that combines experiential training, coaching, and even direct technical contribution. Chris learned agile practices with boots on the ground, leading an enterprise-scale agile adoption at a financial software company, rising from individual contributor to engineering manager. Since founding Agile Learning Labs in 2007, Chris has advised clients ranging from start-ups to universities, enterprises and government agencies like Stanford University, Autodesk and the Federal Reserve.

Chris is the founder of the Bay Area Agile Managers Support Group and is on the board of the Bay Area chapter of the Agile Leadership Network. His company, Agile Learning Labs, partnered with the Scrum Alliance in 2010 to put on a series of train-the-trainer courses to help advance the art of scrum training.
