Srinivas is an independent consultant and coach. He works mainly in the area of Software Project Management and software engineering process definition and implementation. He has significant experience in contributing to corporate practices, which raise level of development effort in terms of speed and quality of construction.  Srinivas has a BTech (Bachelor of Technology) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India and has an MSc (Master of Science) in Information Systems Engineering, from Reading University, UK. Main areas of expertise are:

1.               Software development methodologies (especially Scrum and eXtreme Programming)  

2.               Project management

3.               Software quality metrics (OO code and design)

4.               Process improvement via Testing (QA)

Yes, I think attendees to the CSM class must read something about Scrum. Even one book is OK, Schwaber and Beedle or even a short introductory article on Scrum (for ex: The Scrum Primer )

Lovely experience report melded with opinion. The point you make about creating a real team, is such an importnat aspect of scrum, and is one of the most difficult to convey to waterfall CnC managers. Such a waterfall team is termed a 'workgroup'....
